All Aboard!

Yesterday we took a drive up to Connecticut to catch a ride on the Santa Express!

Our train departed from the Thomaston Station which was built in 1881. It was a fun old building reminiscent of an earlier time.

They had an elaborate model train set up that Anna thoroughly enjoyed watching race around the track.

It was super cold outside but we braved it to watch our 1950s Diesel/Electric train pulling into the station. Just look at the awe on Anna's face!

Lucky for us, our antique coaches were heated and we were very comfortable as we rocked along, enjoying the scenery and good friends!

At the switch, we watched as the engine came around and reconnected at the other end. The connection gave us a bit of a jolt but it was still fun to see!

Towards the end of our ride, a very special visitor came into our coach.

Yep, it was Santa! He came around and talked to every child, giving them some stickers and posing for pictures. As you can see, Anna and Beckett were a little less than thrilled by the Jolly Old Elf!

Lack-luster Santa response aside, we still had a wonderful afternoon!

How fun! Anna, Santa is a good guy! She'll get it. Fun outing though.

Fun, Fun, Fun!!! I love the train station and all of the fun decorations on the train. Other than Santa, Anna looks like she loved it.

What a great holiday outing. Train rides are always fun, but anything's more fun with Santa around, right?
